Rising Lights Foundation
At Rising Lights, we believe in the power of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to transform communities and drive economic growth. Our foundation is dedicated to helping SMEs overcome the red tape and challenges they face in South Africa, and we rely on the generous donations from supporters like you to make a meaningful impact.
The Rising Lights Foundation NPC was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it became clear that many small and medium enterprises (SME’s) were unable to access Government and Private sector funding, incentives, donations or grants due to their businesses being statutorily noncompliant.

The Challenge for SMEs
in South Africa
Small business owners in South Africa often encounter significant obstacles that hinder their growth and success. Excessive bureaucracy, stringent regulations, and a lack of access to resources can make it incredibly challenging for SMEs to thrive. Consequently, many small businesses struggle to navigate these hurdles and end up failing.
Statistics reveal a sobering reality
Over 70% of small businesses in South Africa fail within the first five years of operation. These high failure rates are primarily attributed to the complex regulatory environment and limited support available to SMEs.
How Your Donations Help
Your generous donations to Rising Lights enable us to provide crucial support and resources to SMEs, helping them overcome red tape and fostering an environment where they can flourish. We partnered with SME.TAX and though their unique “Adopt an SME” programme, we are able to assist a great many SME’s in achieving compliance and accessing funding, grants or incentives.
Here’s how your contribution makes a difference:
Providing Business Education and Training
Through your donations, we deliver comprehensive business education and training programs tailored to the needs of SMEs. We equip entrepreneurs with essential skills and knowledge, empowering them to navigate complex challenges, improve their operations, and make informed decisions.

This financial support enables entrepreneurs to invest in their businesses, expand operations, and create sustainable employment opportunities for fellow South Africans, thus creating sustainable employment.
